█ ██ █ WHAT IS A TRAVEL DOCUMENT?
A travel document is an identity document issued by a State or international organization that allows its holder to cross borders. It is similar to a passport, but differs in that it does not always confirm the holder’s nationality.
It is granted in special circumstances, such as to refugees, stateless individuals, persons under humanitarian protection, or permanent residents who are unable to obtain a passport from their country of origin.
While it enables international travel, its acceptance may be subject to restrictions depending on the destination country.
