This Consular Representation can only process criminal record certificates for residents of the Provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and the City of Ottawa.
Criminal Record Certificates are issued exclusively by the REGISTRO NACIONAL DE REINCIDENCIA -National Recidivism Registry (RNR) of the Argentine Republic. To carry out the procedure through this Consular Representation, you must follow the following steps.
█ ██ ███ █████ INSTRUCTIONS
1. REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT for fingerprinting at the Consulate exclusively by sending an email to cmrea@cancilleria.gob.ar indicating the need to obtain a criminal record certificate.
2. ENTER THE RNR WEBSITE:Once you have been granted an appointment , you must, prior to going to the Consulate, enter the RNR website at this link: https://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/InicioTramite/default.aspx choose “Canada”and follow the instructions for the “Solicitud” and the payment to the RNR.
How to correctly complete the “Solicitud”:
SURNAME AND NAME: must exactly match the identity document used (passport or DNI) and must be valid.
DOCUMENT: you must enter the valid Identity Document or Passport with which you will present at the Consulate to complete the process.
ADDRESS : if you enter your Canadian address DO NOT enter the postal code in the ZIP field. Instead you can type “1000” . (The address does not appear on the certificate)
ISSUED BY: If it is an Argentine identity document: National Registry of Persons, or the issuing entity that appears on the document. For foreign passports, enter the issuing country (If your choice is not in the system, you can add it later by hand).
PARA SER PRESENTADO ANTE: You must enter the entity requesting the certificate (For example: Immigration Canada - IRCC)
Exception to article 51 of the Penal Code. It is recommended to visit the Immigration Canada site, where it is specified that the applicant must include this exception request. The legend can be added next to the response to the field “To be presented before”

REFUGEESFor cases where the applicant has refugee status or an application in process, they may use the copy of their identity document held by the IRCC, accompanied by the translation into Spanish (done by an official translator) of the letter of acceptance of the asylum request.
3. PAYMENT TO THE RNR: through the online platform (the option will appear after the “Solicitud” is generated) . Payment can be made with an international credit card, from anywhere in the world and with any cardholder.
4. PRINT “SOLICITUD’ AND PROOF OF PAYMENT RECEIVED BY E-MAIL FROM RNR OR BANK INSTITUTION.
5. APPOINMENT AT THE CONSULATE: the day of your appointment you must bring the following documentation:
a-Identity document that you have entered in the Application (DNI or valid and original passport).
b-Completed and printed Background Request Form- Solicitud- (unsigned).
c-Printed ON-LINE payment receipt.- Comprobante de pago- (The “Solicitud” number must be the same as the “ Comrobante de pago” number,)
Your fingerprints will be taken. Fingerprinting is exclusively in person at the Consulate.
Pay the consular fee with a debit card or a bill from the Consulate at the TD Bank.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ACCESS TO THE CERTIFICATE
Once validated, the user will receive an email with the access codes, within 24 hours after the fingerprinting.
VALIDITY
According to the RNR, the validity of the certificate is five (5) days, but you must consult it with the entity to which you must present it.
LEGALIZATIONS/APOSTILLA
The Consulate does not perform legalizations or apostille on Criminal Record Certificates. If you need to legalize or apostille it, please follow the instructions indicated in the section on legalization/apostille of Argentine documents here.
