Criminal Records certificate

Criminal Record Certificates are issued exclusively by the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia (RNR) of the Republic of Argentina.

For those unable to complete the entire process online the RNR requires fingerprinting at Consular Offices. Residents of the Provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut, and the City of Ottawa can complete this part of the process at this Consulate.

█ ██ ███ █████ OPTIONS

A) PROCESSED DIRECTLY ON THE RNR WEBSITE

Requirements:

Be a user of Mi Argentina* (to register, click on MI ARGENTINA)

Have a Banelco card in your name, or

Have an AFIP tax ID (security level 2 or higher), or

Have a Social Security (ANSES) ID.

IMPORTANT: The Consulate does not participate in this process nor does it have access to the information uploaded by the applicant. Therefore, for any questions or problems, please contact: infodnr@dnrec.jus.gov.ar

Legend: Exception to Article 51 of the Penal Code: Place the legend in any available space, including abbreviating words. If you do not do so, once you receive the Certificate, go to the RNR website and click on the Claims tab. (Follow the instructions there).

B) PROCESSED THROUGH THE CONSULATE.

- Access the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia RNR, select “ANECEDENTES PENALES”, choose Canada as your country, follow the instructions on the site to complete the application, and make the payment to the RNR.

1-A PLEASE NOTE WHEN COMPLETING THE APPLICATION:

a) LAST NAME AND FIRST NAME: must exactly match the identity document used.

b) DOCUMENT: You must enter a valid Identity Document or Passport (Prefix: letters, if applicable. Number: the digits).

c) REFUGEE DOCUMENTS: You can use a copy of your identity document retained by Immigration Canada. If the identity document is expired, the RNR will accept it along with the Asylum Claim Acceptance Letter and its translation into Spanish (by an official translator).

d) ISSUED BY: If it is an Argentine identity document: Registro Nacional de las Personas, or the issuing entity/country indicated on the document. If you have no choice, you can add it manually later.

e) ADDRESS: If you enter your Canadian address, DO NOT enter the postal code in the CP field. Instead, you can write “1000”. (The address will not appear on the certificate).

f) TO BE PRESENTED TO: You must indicate the entity requesting the Certificate (for example: Immigration Canada).

g) EXCEPTION TO ARTICLE 51 OF THE CRIMINAL CODE: Immigration Canada specifies that the applicant must include the request for an exception. (It is recommended to visit the Immigration Canada website).

This statement can be placed in any available space (abbreviations can be used, for example, after the response to the "to be presented to" field).

Once the application is complete, print it and proceed to the second step: payment of the fee.

2-RNR PAYMENT

After the application is generated, the payment option will appear to pay the corresponding fee through the online platform.

Payment can be made with an international credit card, from anywhere in the world, and by any cardholder.

You will then receive the receipt in your email, which you must print.

- Appointment at the Consulate for fingerprinting: Send a copy of the application and RNR payment receipt, along with the document used in the application, to the email address: cmrea@mrecic.gov.ar. An appointment will be scheduled for you.

3- AT THE CONSULATE

3.1- On the day of your appointment, you must appear at this Consulate General for fingerprinting and submission of your documents to the RNR, with the following:

a)- Identity document submitted with the application (original, valid National Identity Document or passport). Refugees: as detailed in point 1 c).

b)- Completed, printed application.

c)- Printed proof of payment. Important: The application and proof of payment numbers must match.

3.2- Payment of the consular fee: on the day of your appointment, by debit or credit card.

4- ACCESS TO THE CERTIFICATE- The RNR website states that the response will be received within 24 hours of fingerprinting.

You will receive an email with the access codes that you must enter on the RNR website.

According to the RNR, the certificate is valid for five (5) days, but you should check with the entity to which you will present it.

5-LANGUAGE

The RNR issues the Criminal Record Certificate in Spanish.

6- APOSTILLE: If the entity/country to which you will present the Criminal Record Certificate requires it to be apostilled, please go to Online Procedures.
