Starting on January 11, 2024, the Apostille Convention will come into effect for Canada, which implies significant modifications in the procedures for the legalization of documents.
This Consulate will no longer legalize Canadian documents to be valid in the Argentine Republic.
All Canadian documents issued after the aforementioned date, as well as all documents not authenticated by Global Affairs Canada, will need to be apostilled by the corresponding authority to be valid in Argentina:
This includes all notarized documents.
The only exceptions to this new modality are documents authenticated by GAC before January 11th 2024 presented at this Consulate before April 10th 2024, as well as commercial documents (administrative documents directly related to a commercial or customs affairs)
The following documents require an apostille:
- Documents issued in Canada to be presented in Argentina.
- Documents issued in Argentina to be presented in Canada.

Important: If the document was signed/certified by a notary that is registered at our office, the document does not need to be authenticated by Global Affairs Canada and you can directly schedule an appointment with us for its legalization.
